I just moved this here from the Words Like Knives thread:
If we want to solve the problems in the band, we need to keep having meetings like the one at BK yesterday and come up with a good list of things we can discuss with Mote. We need to have everything perfectly prepared. We need to make this like an assignment. A debate project. It's just like the Fed vs Anti-fed debate in APUSH: do some research, discuss it with each other and debate a little, and then have everything planned out for a debate with Mote. Have all our points, counterpoints, counter-counterpoints (for when Mote throws something at us against our points). We need to know Mote's thoughts and plan for every situation. I think we should have meetings every Friday at BK for a few more weeks (maybe three more weeks). We'll discuss the band president some, but we should also focus some more on improving the band, rather than who the president should be and why we need one. We should start a new thread: a Band Amelioration Debate thread (sorry.... Band Improvement Debate thread).... or we could just meet every week, maybe before sectionals and on Fridays after school, and we'll bring up some points and we'll debate those points. We can have mock debates where someone takes Mote's side and tries to think of anything Mote would say in each situation.

I don't think we should have another thread here just for the peace of the forums. We all know that the various opinions have resulted in some heated arguments. As far as more meetings like that, I think it's a great idea. It doesn't need to be an official thing, though. All we need to do is get together to talk. If we continue taking notes like we did, they might fall into the wrong hands. Physical documentation can be incriminating, so maybe we should just talk.

Documentation is never a bad thing, and written proof is often taken more seriously than anyone's word. A secretary for all of those meetings would be good, but it should not be one person either so that the notes are sure to circulate.

I suggest everyone bring paper so you can write down questions you want to ask so you don't have to worry about forgetting them. I know at the last meeting I wanted to interrupt with a question, but I decided to be polite and wait for the speaker to finish, but I would forget my question @_@

There were probably too many people at that meeting. Daniel, for instance, probably shouldn't have been there. He has valid opinions, don't get me wrong, but he can be rude and he has a bad habit of saying things he shouldn't (as in he may talk about the meeting around people he shouldn't).

Yeah. I think we should keep the number of people the same we had it on Friday. If too many people come then rumors would spread.

Oh yeah, I forgot about him. He was only there because he wanted to eat BK. He didn't really contribute. We will definitely have less people at this Friday's meeting because no one will go to BK at 3:00 since we don't have school and word will not travel as fast because we can't contact each other in RL. Plus people will be out of town.

Jimmy wont be there. In the other thread let's have a roll call for everyone that's coming so we can have a definite/semi-accurate number for who's going.

Michael or someone needs to take notes again, so i can at least find out what was discussed.
And lets try to make some goals of what we want accomplished this meeting and focus on those other than just having a random discussion. Maybe focus on what positions will be created and who (not specifically but generally) will fill them.

The meetings aren't about the positions. We don't decide that, the board/Mote does. The meeting are to talk about the issues with the band and how to solve them. That's what we need to be focusing on.

Well, we need to talk more about the band as a whole and how we can help the band, instead of just talking about the president and other officer positions. We can devote maybe 15-30 minutes to the president, but the rest of the time needs to be about improving the band and the attitude of the band.
