Aye, and I was talking with Justin, and he said that we need to stop focusing on Mote; there is little we can do. Plus, I realized that all of the time and energy we would put into the Mote issue would get nowhere near as much as accomplished as focusing on improving morale, unity, and skill. Does this mean we ignore Mote? No, but we put him at a secondary priority to the band, the most important aspect of this program. Since when was band the most important aspect of the band program? Really, that's ludicrous. AND LIEK MENTIONED ABOVE START TAKING ACTION, YOU SLACKERS. I get so sick and tired of reading and hearing your discussions/arguments without anything actually being done about it. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. That saying is 100 percent true. yeah

I should make a list of people's names so everyone knows who each other is. I'll do that know.

I JUST CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHO THIS DANIELWIDI4 IS.
On another note, I propose a "tough love" strategy from here on out (meaning until competition). Every year we have to put up with rookie mistakes -which we should have stopped making weeks ago - dangerously close to competition, and this year is no exception. It's time to crack down on the people who aren't trying or just don't have the self-motivation to pick themselves up and SUCCEED. We (meaning leadership) need to start really doling out the hurt. Laps, push-ups, reminders, whatever you want to call them, we need to start enforcing. If there isn't time to do reminders during practice, leadership needs to take the initiative and keep tallies on who makes mistakes, then call them after practice for their punishnment. The free ride is over. The band really needs to pull its weight now, and that means everyone. Every practice we need to ask ourselves what we need to improve on, answer honestly, and make a REAL effort towards getting better at whatever you need work on.

Have you? You've been saying to work harder, I know that, but I'm saying we start doling out some serious punishment. It's basically a watered down version of my "work hard or work harder" solution to the Jonathan problem. By the way, how is that working out?

We just talked about it Friday. I haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet. But apparently he's ready to pass off Hand Jive and Summer Nights because Justin talked to his mom on Friday and told her he needed to be ready to pass off this week. She made him practice for two hours (not always a good thing if it's continuous). But Greased Lightnin', according to him, when I asked him if he had it ready, he said, "No, that one's.... REALLY fast!"
But I will talk to him about it. The problem is, no matter how well he has the notes memorized, there is no way he can actually pass off. I'm going to lapse back into Geometry for a minute here. Proofs...
Pass-off = style Style = articulation converse is also true: articulation = style; style = pass-off Therefore, pass-off = articulation by Law of Syllogism. Inverse is also true: no articulation = no pass-off......
No matter how you look at it, he's never going to pass off anything unless he can get his articulations down (because he STILL CAN'T TONGUE!!!!).

And don't say I need to work with him on that. Like I've said before, I've tried that. Geoff's tried it. Anthony's tried it. Mr. Howard has tried it. And I'm still working on it. Justin said he might even try. Try teaching a kid never learned how to tongue how to tongue. It's hard. Just about everyone knows how to tongue, no matter how bad it might sound. You just automatically know how. It's hard to teach something you never had to teach yourself.

It's basically a watered down version of my "work hard or work harder" solution to the Jonathan problem. By the way, how is that working out? I talked to Michael and Geoff about this, and I said that once the fall break was over, we wouldn't take shit from anyone. I've also stated this at the last two BK meetings but in politer terms. Jonathan hasn't been working out. He just gets pissed if we try to correct his mistakes and he won't listen to us. I think Mote is confused now. We talked to Mote about Jonathan not marching at competition because of his faults, but then we backed Jonathan up in marching on Friday's game when he forgot to wear black socks. It's kinda like how Mote called Dryn "Bryn" for a few weeks, then we corrected him, then whenever he said "Dryn" we told him his name was "Bryn". Those were some good times.

"The Boat" is now the name for the Band Social Commitee. Just wanted everyone to know that. The Boat makes it float.
The Boat meeting today was dissapointing. We don't get nearly enough done and Mrs. Kosicki either ignored or flip-flopped on a lot of the issues we discussed last time. I think its the Mote intimidation factor.

I think it went well for my first experience. It seemed like we just discussed what you guys discussed last time though. I think she was just in a rush. I think if we plan on getting things done then we need at least 2 hours.

Discuss: Today's practice
I think it went very well. If you think it's stupid that we're changing sets... you have to remember that we are basically filling in all the wholes of people who quit. If we changed sets any sooner it would have been a waste of time because no one will be dropping out 2.5 weeks before competition.

We don't want that. It would be better to just ignore them.

Though you'd think they'd shut up after the evil glare. That's stopped me from continuing really random sentances before, and probably saved the crap from being kicked out of me.
