Trumpet Sectionals/Zach Munson

How are we going to work Zach into the show? This seems to be a big enough problem that it needs it's own thread so we can talk about this.
I just thought of something. I think either Geof or Katie should take Zach instead of Victoria. He wasn't here for all of band camp, so he doesn't know what any of the music sounds like, and I really don't think Victoria is the best choice for him because of that (she's still figuring out the music too). I think Katie should still have Marleigh, so Geof should get Zach, but then Victoria would have Larry... Do you think that would work, or will Larry be too out of control for Victoria. I kinda like how we have lesson pairs set up right now (with these changes), but I don't think Victoria will be able to do much with Larry.

I think Larry will be good for Victoria. I can't imagine him going crazy on her. If she can't handle him for the first few lessons then we can mix it up.

Quick tips for lessons:
Marleigh sets her embrechure too low on the mouthpiece. She needs to work on moving the mouthpiece down on her face.
Jonathan needs to work on tonguing. (Anthony, you need to work hard on this.) Try anchor tonguing (put the tip of your tongue in the bottom of your mouth and tongue with the middle of your tongue). (I'd use that as a last resort.) Ask him how he tongues. I think he just "hoo"s the notes. Have him say "tu/du" or "ta/da" without the trumpet, then try it with the mouthpiece. Once he gets the hang of it, have him try it with his trumpet. (Oh, and ask what size mouthpiece he's using. That could have something to do with it.) And I'll help however I can.
Larry also has an embrechure problem. I don't know how to describe it. I think he just sticks his lips out too far into the mouthpiece. He needs to curl in his top lip some. Actually, I think all of the freshmen could do that a little. It helps with range.
I can't think of anything specific for Matt or Dryn. And we haven't heard Zach that much, so I don't know anything to work on with him.

No, if her embrechure is too low on the mouthpiece, then the mouthpiece is too high. So she needs to lower the mouthpiece to move her embrechure up... it's backwards.
