You probably left it in the band room. Since you're leadership and have to get there early you shouldn't have to worry about anyone taking it.

Ok, I'll look tomorrow. And speaking of mouthpieces.... lolol Anthony, you'll never guess what mouthpiece I found in my dad's trumpet case from when he was in high school.... An 11B4. It's pretty small. Obviously not as small as Victoria's 14A4A, but it's still pretty small. I'm still pretty tired from playing today, and I was able to hit an F above the staff (aka Super F). And I also found a size 2 (not 2A, 2B, or 2C... just 2, and it's deeper than my 1 1/2C). It's so deep it actually made me go flat, and I could barely lip it up enough to bring it in tune. And it sounds really dark too. I'll bring the 11B4 and the 2 tomorrow, and I'll let you hear them. And I found an 11C4-7C. I'm not sure what the difference is from a normal 7C, but I guess it has to be different in some way if it had to have a different name. By the way, do you think Mote would hate me if I played on the 11B4 for marching band? Just for marching band. I'll stick with my 1 1/2C for concert band, unless I need really dark stuff, then I'll use the 2. lol I am becoming a trumpet freak. I have two Bb trumpets, a C trumpet, three 7C mouthpieces, a 5C (once I find it), a 1 1/2C, a 2, an 11C4-7C, and an 11B4, plus a metal straight mute, a cardboard straight mute, a cup mute, and a plunger mute, and like seven bottles of valve oil and two things of slide grease.

Oh, and about the 11B4, I'm just going to use tomorrow morning during practice and see if Mote notices. And I'll ask Mr. Howard during sectionals. If both are okay with it, then I'll use it for marching season.

Michael, if we had power rankings for band you would be uber god tier.
When you and the rookies went to get shoes, one thing we talked to Mr. Howard about was you being a level above everyone else and having to see the rookies be as fail as they are. Mr. Howard felt bad for you.
What's so great about an 11B4 anyways?

lololol Wait... are you serious??? Gah!! My dad has the weirdest mouthpieces I've ever seen!! He has some weird one. I don't even know what size it is. All it says is Tri, and on the other side it says 5MS. And it's even shallower than the 11B4! And I found a 6C(!?) It's the only 6C I've ever seen, and it's the first I've heard of it. Well, an 11B4 is just so much shallower than a 1 1/2C that it makes it easier to play high. And with our marching show this year (with all the weird lip slurs ad high Fs and Gs), I need to be able to play high for a long time. So hopefully the 11B4 (or maybe the Tri 5MS) will help.

OMG IT'S MARCUS!!!11
Yeah, Michael, I'm serious. We also talked about how our generation is the microwave generation in that we expect things to happen in 30 seconds. Mr. Howard also said he was really surprised that we didn't have any auditions. He said it gives no incentive to get better for the rookies. Something random Mr. Howard said was that Mr. Mote used to be a security guard and he was as buff as Officer Peabody, LOL!

ROFL WUT??? Mote?? Buff like Peabody?? lol Microwave generation. Yeah, he's right about the auditions. Auditions give people a reason to improve. Without them... well, after Geof is gone, the EHS trumpet section is doomed.

Dryn actually made it to All state last year according to my sister..
Marley seems to have potential
Larry would actually be a pretty good marcher if he learned how to stay at attention. He has a beautiful glide step that I made sure to compliment.

No, I was just saying that after Geof (your class) graduates, then EHS is doomed. But you're right, Anthony. Dryn is pretty good. And Marleigh (yes, I know it's spelled weird, but that's how it's spelled) does show a lot of potential. Mr. Howard definitely recognized it today when we were working on embrechures and she that really high-pitched buzzing thing. If she could learn to get that kind of speed in her mouthpiece, her range would be amazing. And she and Dryn can read music a lot better than the others.

We need to have monthly or bimonthly competitions or "auditions." Each of the veterans will take one freshman (but one person will have to take two) and we'll have weekly lessons. I was thinking we could have an hour of trumpet sectionals, half hour lessons, and then half an hour for full brass sectionals. How does that sound? (And maybe we could sneak Katie into the band room so she could take a rookie and we wouldn't need someone to take two.)

Yeah, Justin, you've definitely gotten better. You should try out for District/All State this year. Oh, and I found my mouthpiece... well, Jimmy did, and Lucco passed on the message. lol Since 7C and 5C aren't too far off, and I had Dryn play on my 5C and Geof had Matt play on his, I think a combination of 7C and 5C would work for Larry: 6C. That way he has a small enough mouthpiece to keep working on range and it's big enough that he can work on his embrechure too. So I'll bring in my old-new 6C for him to try.

You didn't have to. But thanks anyway. I'm just glad it was found. I know trumpet mouthpieces aren't nearly as expensive as tuba mouthpieces, but they're not cheap.

Yeah, you should be. How much is a tuba mouthpiece? $100? And how many do you have? 1? 2? It would be really bad if you lost it. lol Trumpet mouthpieces are cheaper, but we go through a lot more different ones. There are concert mouthpieces (5C, 3C, 1 1/2C), orchestra mouthpieces (really deep mouthpieces like A and B mouthpieces), and jazz/screamer mouthpieces (really shallow ones like 14A4A, and D mouthpieces). Plus, you have everything in between. And, I'm not sure about other trumpet players, but I tend to keep most of my mouthpieces. So I now have about nine mouthpieces (including the ones I found in my dad's case). If I lost my 5C, I could easily switch to my 6C, and my 1 1/2C wouldn't be that hard to switch from to go to my 2. So trumpet players actually have it a little better than tubas, since you gradually change mouthpieces, so the cost is more spread out. With tubas you have to pay everything all at once.

I'll bet. I kinda want to get a custom mouthpiece, but I'm doing fine with the one I have right now, so I don't really need it. Custom mouthpieces just look cooler because you can have a gold screw-on rim as wide or as narrow as you want and a silver cup as deep or as shallow as you need it, and then a long/normal back-bore, etc.
