After long known popularity from the series (which I assume at least some of you watched) Obelisk the Tormentor, a LEGAL Effect Monster Card is to be released in Japan in a few weeks. Do you know what this means? SOON THE OTHER TWO WILL BE RELEASED AND I WILL USE THEIR POWER TO SHOW THE LIGHT TO ALL! Ahem...Anyway, it will be one of the latest V-Jump Promo cards, much like Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was a Shonen Jump Promo card. IMO the Legal Obelisk looks cooler, but of course his effect has been made legal. Here's the stats and the effect translation (because unless you're a Japanophile (cough Jason cough) you wouldn't know it.) This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set except by Tributing 3 monsters. This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, the effects of Spell, Trap, and Effect Monsters cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Spells, Traps, or Effect Monsters. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. You can Tribute 2 monsters to destroy all monsters your opponent controls. This card cannot declare an attack during the turn you activate this effect. And there you have it! No where near as broken as DAD or Vennominaga, but still pretty powerful. A legal Raigeki at the cost of two Scapegoats, immunity from that crap like Sakuretsu Armor/Trap Hole when he is first summoned, blanket immunity from things like Spellbinding Circle and Nightmare Wheel, and a 4000 ATK beatstick all rolled into one. Discuss and bow before the first of the three God Cards, Obelisk the Tormentor! A video showing his power. Estimate where 1:50 is and fast forward there. Also, if you can find the song played during his summoning, you would have infinite gratitude.

I liked the other picture of Obelisk. This one has the dark spiderman symbol, lol, and also looks more cartoony.
I think it's still going to be banned. Seriously, 4000 attack and pretty much can't be destroyed.

I'm pretty sure he won't be banned. He's only immune to Spells/Traps/Effects on his first turn. Then after that he's only immune to cards that target, such as Michizure and Change of Heart (banned lol). And there are some other monsters with that amount of attack. I'll post them in a second.

Hrm. It's Obelisk the Tormentor, only he doesn't deal 4000 damage with his sac-two-monsters effect. Card's -broken-
Good thing it's only Jap.

Imo, Gilford the Lightning is a better card. You don't need to sacrifice 5 monsters to do the same effect as Gilford. Sure, he may not have 4000000 million attack and immunity to most stuff, but it's a pretty common card and if you equip it with megamorph it'll get the job done. My main point is, I would rather sacrifice 3 cards instead of 5 to deal 2800 life points than 4000 life points. Oh yeah, Gilford can attack the turn he activates his effect, and Obelisk can't AHAHAHAHA.

Yea, but Gilford can easily be countered with Trap Hole, Solemn Judgment, etc. If he never makes it to the field, he can't really get the job done now can he?
I'd rather sacrifice 5 monsters for a guaranteed Raigeki and pretty much end game attack next turn than sacrifice 3 monsters for a significantly reduced chance of Raigeki next turn. And if you sacrifice 3 for Gilford and he gets Trap Holed/Solemn Judgmented then what do you do? YOU ARE DEFENSELESS.
And Obelisk has his own epic theme music. That's one thing he'll always have over every other monster ever.

And Obelisk can activate his effect every turn. Gilford's only works when he's first Tribute summoned. It's like having a Raigeki on the field each turn with Obelisk

It's like having a Raigeki on the field each turn with Obelisk Except not really, because how are you supposed to get 2 cards on the field every turn? I still think Gilford is better. The chances of him dying when he is summoned is pretty low, imo.

Man. Gilford > Obelisk? Lololololol
The chances of get Sakuretsu Armored, Smashing Ground/Soul Taker'ed, Man-Eater Bug'ed, are VERY high. Obelisk >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gilford

All those cards summon tokens to the field, so Obelisk can easily use them to wipe out the opponent's monsters.

The problem is that the turn he uses Raigeki, he can't attack. You could have another monster attack, but chances are it'll just be a 4-starred monster.
The thing with Gilford, is that usually the turn you play him is the turn you win. I've seen him and that's what happens. With Obelisk you have to wait a turn to attack if you used Raigeki. Then again, if you are able to summon Obelisk, you can take out a huge chunk of life points by just attacking whatever face up attack position monster they have.

Yes, as Jason said: Obelisk has a lot of staying power, more so than almost every monster aside from the Crystal Beasts and Vennominaga.
