Let's use this to discuss everyone as a player. Use the thread to trade tips on each other's games, learn new tricks, and diss yo' peers (sparingly, because I'm tired of the insult fest that occasionally takes place here).

Thanks for the comment Tyler.
I have a tip for everyone. Use mindgames. And by that I mean stay unpredictable while predicting your opponent. Break habits. If you have a tendency to roll after every attack or some other odd quirk, stop doing it. Opponent's look for habits and then punish you for them. By punish, I mean getting a hit for a mistake you made. Tyler, this means not jumping straight over your opponent's head and using Link's down aerial. Of course, if your opponent never learns to shield, then go ahead and spam it all you want, but no one is ever that dumb.

Good fights yesterday, Lucco. Ganondorf match almost made my head asplode because he's just that awesome. Even though you were winning for almost the whole game, I somehow came back and won that match. Our Marth VS Link best 2/3 was intense. First match you 2 stocked me, then the next match you almost did it again but somehow I came back with 100% on my last stock. The final match was also good, and we stayed about equal for the whole thing, but I ended up winning that one too. I definitely noticed an improvement in your game and I'm looking forward to get beat by you more often.

I'm loving Melee again after watching some pro matches. More specifically, Ken has inspired me to aspire. I'm going to continue training, because those matches were after a night of super-training with Jimmy. He got really good with Link, but he just started with him, so I could consistently 3-stock him. KEN COMBO FOR THE WIN.

It's hard to improve in Brawl. Seems like the ceiling for greatness is pretty shallow. I'm going to hold out until some people discover how to make Brawl a better game, then I'll play it seriously like I do with Melee. Since I haven't acheived the level of amazingness in Melee as much as I want, it feels like I can't move on to Brawl because I'm leaving a game "incomplete". I think Melee is going to come back anyways. Hundreds of people have already moved back to Melee. Here are the recent regional polls asking "Melee or Brawl?" Format: Region ~ Melee - Brawl
Atlantic North ~ 66 - 41
Atlantic South ~ 89 - 54
Midwest ~ 34 - 20
Southwest ~ 7 - 7
Pacific West ~ 67 - 43
Canada ~ 21 - 13
Central and South America - 7 - 5
TOTALS ~ 291 - 183

brwal almost head em on southwest! but part of the reason (i think) that brawl isnt coming out of the closet (metaphorically speaking) is beacuse the metagame for the characters hasnt been developed and they don't have the advanced starts like they do in melee, and there is no Teirlist....yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111one but i think in 3-4 years or so brawl will become amazing! as did melee awhile back! and before it super smash 64! so theres something to think about!

The Melee metagame took years to develop. Wavedashing and that happiness only developed about 3 years ago. Don't expect any Brawl awesomeness anytime soon.

We can only hope new pros will come. Ken was a big influence on changing the Melee metagame, which consisted of spams of dash attacks. However, a lot of the metagamists from Melee did not move on to Brawl. Only time will tell.

That is good, for if the same people keep being "pro", the game will get stagnant. New people will bring about new strategies completely separate from the Melee-centric mindset, allowing Brawl's metagame to truly prosper.

I really wish there was a little more hitstun in Brawl ..and the online had more options.

Yeah. I wish L-canceling and hitstun still existed. And tripping was gone. Those are my only real complaints.
