I play way more Melee than I do Brawl. If there is an opportunity to choose one or the other it would be Melee. Melee for life, son.

Anyway, Marth should be the best character in the game, but thanks to Sheik and Captain Falcon, Marth isn't as dominant as he can. However, because no one likes to play Sheik because they think it's degrading, and there are not many good C. Falcons, Marth is extremely dominant. Time and time before has Melee Marth been compared to Meta Knight. Did you know that in every single major tournament Melee has ever had, Marth has been in the top 3?

I think people just need to be more creative when versing Marth. The sweet part about Melee is that the metagame is always able to change, and there are no auto-win characters or strategies. (This is untrue for Brawl because of MK.) So, if a smart player such as Azen or Mew2king really wanted to create an entire metagame against Marth, they probably could. They don't need to though, because there is no Marth out there that is dominant besides themselves. (Ken is pretty much retired btw.)

One major part of Marth's game is his ability to chain grab. If he could not chain grab Falco/Fox, then Falco/Fox would not have any trouble being top tier. Just think of a world where Marth could not chain grab space animals. What advantages would Marth have against them then? None.
