Don't forget the woodwinds were pushing their buttons and made squeeks and blamed their reeds. while that may be true....the reeds do actually have something to do with it.....

I'm seriously tired of hearing the same sections get yelled at every day. Tubas need to shape up. Both of them.
The phrase "stop complaining" applies when I complain more than once. The fact that I'm not the only one who has to hear Mote harp at the same sections every day does not mean I can't be annoyed at having my time wasted. In fact, we should all be annoyed at the people screwing up every day.
Mote took me out of context. I said we needed to stop super-prioritizing fun over music in the stands because the reason we're there is for the music. The stands get pretty wild sometimes, and it needs to calm down a little. THAT'S what I said. Mote went ahead and referred to what I said about five times when he was saying that we should be standing at modified attention in the stands. I DO NOT think that is a good idea. Games are and should continue to be fun, we just need to stop getting so insane in the stands.

Since when are woodwinds squeaking a problem in the stands?

ok the tubas are a problem as a whole and in general, the fact that when josh was getting yelled at for not knowing that scale and then he broguht justin into it just made me mad, josh needs to stop acting like hes mr. almighty he makes alot of mistakes....the mote speech was nothing knew we get them once a week stop complaining its almost routine to get them now adays....and widi being the genious that he is (sarcasm) told me this "wel right before the drum break kevin told me to take off and double the tempo speed" so basically they sped up on puspose and i can and will blame the snares for the speeding up, they did start this, the freshman trumpets (however not the cause of the issue) did not follow beth and instead went with the snares after that it was all over, also in the middle mote pulled beth's arm down and told her to stop then to get back with it, 3 measures later he did it again and just told her to stop....now some stuff should be cleared up

@lucco: I don't think Mote will get to the point where he will make us stand at modified attention. That is just taking it to the extreme, especially when we only have 1 more real game, plus it's 8th grade night. The squeeking comment didn't have to do with anything, I just felt like making a funny.
@tyler D. Yeah you're right about Josh. When the the low brass were doing scales, he was like "come on guys", as if he were superior to them and tried getting them to play better. I heard he got a 0 on his etude. I don't understand why the percussion would speed up. There's no logical explanation. They can screw up on things where they are not depended on, but something like Greased Lightning is pretty ridiculous.

We talked in 6th period.
Beth counted off at a faster tempo than usual, but slowed down right as we started playing. The snares did speed up, and with it went the brass at least. When the drum breaks came by, the snares took off really for no reason. The basses stopped playing when we realized how fast we were going. After that....
On another note, the brass doesn't pay attention during the games. I know Anthony, and Michael at least do, and I'm sure others too, but the majority of those right behind me are never paying attention.
that was a major point brought up by mote, how unfocused we are. Even he remarked how the (freshmen, mostly) brass are not usually focused on Beth, and instead are talking amongst themselves. Whenever we start to play, the brass is the last section to be ready, and sometimes don't start playing until partway into the tune.
I know this because they are right behind me.

I am almost never paying attention, but somehow I am able to see what's going on like 2 seconds before beth/ryan conducts. I am just amazing like that.

Still, you are able to get it together. The vast majority of the brass can't hear Beth/Ryan, or aren't paying attention

Same with me. But I'll find out what we're playing before we start one way or another.

The low brass I think tries to pay attention, butt the upper brass is so loud that they can't hear the drum major.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? LOW BRASS IS THE BEST! CAN'T YOU TELL? JOSH IS THE BEST SECTION LEADER. HE KNOWS HOW TO MARK TIME

Don't make this a Josh-bashing thread. He hit a new low. Don't follow him there. We all realize that what he tried to pull today in class was low, but just leave it at that. We don't need to discuss it further.
The band needs more discipline. After the first competition, I noticed a decline in our focus and, as a result, quality. Why? We got cocky. We decided that we were good enough as we were. We went around claiming we would win the next competition easily. Did we? No. We got a lower score than the first competition. Take a lesson from it: we need to work on discipline. Don't slack off after doing well on something. Keep up the momentum. We can always work harder and we always should. Even in the stands. Look at everything as an opportunity to improve, even super-easy stands music.

We tryed to tell Mote that the crowd is loud and that we need the lone ranger to be up higher, but he passed it off as an excuse. It really is hard to hear! I watch the drum major quite a bit and i STILL am unable to hear him/her say what we're playing. Only the woodwinds down in front can really hear him/her well enough.

I do not need to get ANYTHING together i HAD my music i just accidently grabbed the one in the wrong key that MOTE printed out for me. you can't blame me for that.
also speaking of class it makes it very hard for me to get set up when if i set up my chair and stand i put my harness on the stand and my music on the chair, and then i go to get my tuba
when i come back what do i find MY HARNESS THROWN ACROSS THE BAND ROOM MY MUSIC ON THE FLOOR WITH FOOT PRINTS ALL OVER IT, IF I EVER CATCH ANYONE DOING THAT THEY WILL BE DEALT WITH AND I DONT CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO ME AFTERWARD

I know what you mean (about the stands). I always am ready to play and am generally paying attention. It was so pointless for me to sit there while Mote lecture us when I did exactly what I was supposed to. I realized we sped up and tried to fix ti by going Beth's tempo. BUT SHE STOPPED CONDUCTING so i stopped playing!
Mote gets too worked up over nothing. So we screwed up once. OMG WE CANT SCREW UP EVEN ONCE THAT MAKES US A TERRIBLE BAND DO YOU WANT OT BE TERRIBLE I DONT LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
tHATS PRETTY much what he said. We are not allowed to make mistakes. We're the Etowah Band and we have to be perfect. Never mind the fact that we haven't play in three weeks.

Sorry, Justin, it just seems like a majority of the time you don't have your music. Maybe that's not true, but we just never acknowledge that because it is human nature to see more of the bad than the good.
If I see anyone take your chair/stand, then I'll stop them and tell you about it.
