WTF PEOPLE?!?!??! It's already a day past Monday and no one's created a new character thread? I don't care how much homework you have the 6th day of school; find time to resurrect the forums.
Anyway, Toon Link is vastly superior to Normal Link in every way. Despite the fact that he's from the worst Zelda games of all time (Aside from the CD-i games) he is a pretty decent character. He isn't too hard to use, is balanced in terms of a moveset, and can distract fan girls with his "adorable eyes". Sakurai himself suggested that the best Boss Battle strategy was to spam Toon Link's down aerial lol. Anyway, post your thoughts about Toon Link here.

Toon Link is a character that has potential. I mained Toon Link at one point for a few weeks, but I quickly realized his major flaw: he can't kill.
Sure, killing is easy for Toon Link... if you're versing someone that runs into your attacks. If you notice, a lot of his attacks flow into each other - mainly his aerial attacks, but have you noticed that none of his attacks flow into his kill moves? Forward smash is a deadly attack, but there are no proper set ups for this attack.
Sure, Toon Link is a powerful force on terms of mediocre play, but can you imagine a Toon Link player fighting the best players in the world? Good players know how to avoid things. They know to take advantage of characters' weaknesses and take advantage of their own character's strong points.
When I was maining Toon Link, I was doing fairly well with him, mainly because the people we play with don't have the experience to avoid things or have proper spacing. Then I versed one of the Etowah Alumni (Kane) who is a much smarter player than most of us. He was using G&W, and I was winning by a stock. I was able to get G&W up to 200% and I still couldn't kill him. He ended up winning because I couldn't freaking kill with Toon Link.
There is no doubt that another player like Chu Dat or Azen will come around and make Toon Link a fearsome character. He has the qualities of a high tier character. He arguably has the best projectile game in Brawl, he has a spike, he can combo with back air, he can make it back to the edge easily because of floatiness, and if your opponent derps while Toon Link does his down smash it can kill as low as 30%.
I think the best attribute that Toon Link has is definitely his projectile game. You can pressure your opponent very well and make them frustrated and in return find openings. You can short hop (or full hop - not sure) double arrows, plus he's got a real boomerang, plus he's got bombs that have excellent blasting range.
I think that's all I have to say about Toon Link for now.

Toon Link is a lot better. Better recovery, better aerials, better bombs (bigger blast radius), his down-aerial is a spike, and his forward air is a good killer. Oh yeah, he can also short hop double arrow.
His only problem is that he has trouble setting up kills, but it's likely that a smart player will figure something out.

lol, the recovery and aerials probably come with being smaller, but I didn't know about the bombs, and lol his down- arieal is better? Way to mess with the laws of physics, Nintendo... and short hop? wut?

short hop is when you press the jump button lighter than normal and you do a smaller jump.
Aerials have nothing to do with being small. Aerials = attacks in the air. Captain Falcon is a tall character and his aerials are good (at least in Melee).
Recovery also has nothing to do with being small. It's a proven fact that Toon Link goes a greater distance with his up-b then Link does. Also, because Toon Link is floatier than Link, he can travel back to the stage without sinking like a rock like Link does.

What you need to realize is that Brawl does not follow any sort of real world physics. Lucario, one of the bigger characters of the game, is extremely floaty and can wall cling/jump with extreme ease. Yes, the largest characters (Ganon, Bowser) have bad jumping capabilities (DOESN'T APPLY TO D3) but there are also small ones that are just as bad (olimar).
Don't try to think of Brawl in a real world sense: it'l blow ur mind.

Being floaty isn't a bad thing. Generally floaty characters die at lower percents. That doesn't really matter because DI has such large impact in Brawl.

I think he has the potential for a higher position in the Brawl Tiers.

Zac, what do you have against Toon Link? He is a better version of Link, you should use him.

because, i hate being small characters (not sure why), its not so much that i dislike him that i dislike him being better than link, and hes a freakin cartoon version of an epic character from a couple of lousy games- they were alright, but not so much in comparison to other games in the series
