one thing about lucas is if you use him against me you will most likely win. for some odd reason lucas just destroys me no matter what character i use.

wel rob are u versing a CPU? if its a human i would think a good lucas counter for u might be falco! he does decent damage has a good reflector for reflecting lucas's PK thunder and fire and lucas's grab is easily dodged with a well placed spot dodge! it probably seems easier to me since ive versed my bro so many times and he mains lucas but u will get the hang of it eventually the key to winning any battle n brawl is defnse, sheild and dodge alot, its oppisite for melee, melee is al about offense!

My Lucas is so pro. He's got awesome disjointed hitboxes for almost all of his attacks except down tilt and up-air. Psi-magnet is good for approaching since it has good range and it's disjointed, you can also cancel it at anytime meaning you don't have to worry about lag. Psi-magnet can also kill around 130% and can be used for edgeguarding if you can't set-up his back air (spike). His down-air is also a spike when the 4th hitbox hits your opponent. It's not very good as a spike but it can gimp or kill around 100%.
PK thunder is good for edgeguarding since it pushes them backwards, and PK thunder 2 (to launch youself) can be used randomly to surprise your opponent for awesome knockback and awesome damage. Up-smash is also good for coming out randomly because it can kill around 70%. Down-smash lasts a long time and it's very good. Forward smash is fast and can kill around 110%. His forward aerial is fast and auto-cancels upon landing so you can follow it up with any tilt.
His grabs are his only down side, but it can be used as a tether recovery which is a lot safer than PK thunder because people are learning to gimp Ness and Lucas during their recovery. PK fire is spammable and good for racking up damage and to keep the spacing. It's also a God send for sudden death battles because it has enough knock back for it to kill. His PK freeze is his only useless move, but it could be good for keeping your opponent distracted for when they are returning back to the stage.
Lucas would probably be high middle tier if it weren't for the grab release glitch which makes Lucas unusable against Marth, and any other character can abuse it too for a few percentages.

You actually do pretty well. I can't just go into a tournament match with you and screw around the whole time like I do with some people. I have to actually try and be careful with how I play.

The grab release glitch: Works only against Ness and Lucas, but has more of an effect against Ness than it does to Lucas. Pick Marth, grab (don't throw) Lucas/Ness, jab (hit a), and once they escape, you can grab them again and repeat the process. Lucas can escape around 100%, but Ness can't escape at all. It makes Lucas unusable against Marth and unusable against Charizard and Marth for Ness. You have to get the timing down, but once you do, it's easy and very cheap.
To stop Lucas' PK thunder while he's recovering, you have to attack the PK thunder before it hits him so it will cancel out. You can also reflect it, cape it, or use Mario's FLUDD while he's recovering and it'll push him out of his PK thunder LOL.

Yeah, I try to avoid using PK thunder because it's not as good as it seems. I use reverse b-stick pk-fires to get to the stage or use tether recovery.

I want to get better at Lucas, and he is alright, but to the point.
I think if you reverse pivot grab, the grab is not that bad, and the range does help (but the lag hurts a lot worse). If he had Ness's UAir, I would be pumped.

Wait what's the difference between their up-airs?
And I need to pivot grab, because it helps Yoshi a lot so it should be the same for Lucas.

Yea, pivot grabbing is beastly. I can usually do it in Training, but no so much in battle.
The difference is Ness's can kill at much lower percents than Lucas's.

Sup Marcus. Lucas is tight but my strategies with him don't work against people that know what they're doing. Up-smash will never work, not even sliding up-smash. PK thunder to launch yourself only hits if your opponent isn't paying attention. So the only way Lucas can win against smart people is PK fire spam.

Try pushing people off the stage with Up-B. Kyle does it all the time and kind of fails, but one time he nailed it and killed me at a really low percent, pushing me straight of the edge when I tried to recover.

He got me once with his up-b edgeguarding skills when we did lucas doubles. That's easy to use but easy to dodge. Kyle uses newbie metagame lucas. He needs to bair and psi-magnet to edgeguard lol.
