i was just listening to canzone per sonare #4 andI really want to continue doing sextet
i was wondering if you guys were interested in doing it this year too

Yeah, I definitely want to do sextet again. And maybe a quintet/quartet and a trumpet quartet/trio. Yeah, Mr. Rice needs to do Jazz Band because I can't stand another hour a week with Mote. Mote probably wouldn't do Jazz Band anyway. We just have to convince Mote that we need Jazz Band. And if we can get Conner in it, then he might approve of having a French horn in it and decide it's a good idea. Besides, I've heard jazz horns before, and they can be pretty good, if played by the right person.

i'd love to do another brass sextet/ brass choir. it was really fun last time. and i would die if Mr. Rice started a jazz band! jazz band is what i always wanted to do but couldn't because i play baritone and not trombone. and i actually have time to learn a second instrument this time around.

Well, we have plenty of drummers this year, but we need someone who's good at playing a drum set, and we don't really use that very much in band. So, besides Kevin, who sight-read the set part at the concert, and that one percussionist who wasn't in marching band that Kevin had to sub for, I don't really know anyone who'd be good. And I'm not sure how willing everyone would be to have either one of them in the band. But a ska band does sound fun. JJ Posway's pretty good at guitar, and I think Josh is too. And we could just get a few people from chorus or drama to be our singers. Oh, and my brother plays bass guitar, but I don't think he'd want to do it (he doesn't like performing, aka pretty much the only reason anyone plays an instrument).

It would be really fun! That's mainly why I've continued practicing; we never really had that many opportunities to play jazz or modern music.

Yeah. I still have the book we used for Jazz Band with Randy Hunter. You can look through it some if you want... Katie, did I ever get you a copy of that book.
