Olimar was a really good guess. Let's make a checklist to see if Olimar fits.
and its difficult to get a read on how they move. -----> Yeah. Olimar is small and if you don't have good practice against him you won't be able to tell the difference between his grabs or smash attacks. They all look the same.
This character is effective at both long range and short range, and has mindgames that will put even the best players to shame. -----> Yeah. Olimar has pikmin to throw, has an extended grab, and his short range game is pretty effective too.
But this character has a recovery that, although many people think is quite amazing, is easily countered. ----> Nope. Everyone knows Olimar's recovery is crap. No one thinks it is "quite amazing". Yeah, easily countered, but not quite amazing.

Pit then. Rob has NO mindgames and sucks at long range. Sure his top and his lzahs is cool, but they are not effective.

R.O.B. ROB. He has spammable projectiles and annoying priority in the air with his disjointed hitboxes. Still, it's hard to KO with him because his ground attacks aren't as great as the rest of his game. ROB ROB ROB ROB ROB ROB ROB ROB.

Toon Link. His projectiles are awesome, and his attacks quick as an arrow.
However, he has an incredibly hard time killing, keeping him low on the tier list. He might be able to rise, but as of now his inability to kill is too negative.

Robert's sounds like a more intelligent guess. Rob's projectiles aren't as spammable as Toon Links, so I'm going with that. TOON LINK IT IS.
