Geoffery said Mote said we're just going to use our hands for the plunger mute part! NO!! We're not French horns! It doesn't work without the plunger! Why don't we just get the color guard to carry the mutes for us? They go off to the sidelines at random times anyway. make that suggestion to him ohh and i have been hearing that we might not be wearing the uniforms, but instead wearing jeans and (fake)leather jackets so there is a chance you might have pockets

That's weird. I thought we were still going to be in uniforms, but Ryan was going to have to wear the leather jacket and greased-back hair. A few other options for the plunger mute:
make/buy mute belts that can also be used for future use (most expensive option, but probably the most effective)
carry the mutes under our hats (this is the least expensive, but I'm doubtful of how effective it will be)
tie a string to it and wear it like a necklace (this is probably the easiest way, since it allows for quick access and easy storage after we're done with it, but it will cause a little problem with people wondering what's swinging around at our sides for the entire show... and it would be hitting us as we marched)

Maybe we can keep them in our butts so they won't get clogged xD
And Justin, our marching uniforms are hot as well.

We shouldn't march but drive around in muscle cars. We will win every single style point at competition.

Well, you practice more when you don't HAVE to, so bleh.

No, I suck. I only practice when I haven't played at all, like during vacations or those week long breaks. I don't care much for band, I just like the people in it.

If I didn't have to deal with Mote and Stallings... well, just Mote this year, then I'd be fine with band. If only Mr. Johnson or my middle school director, Mr. Kovalchik, could be the director here. Or at least Mr. Rice. Well, you practice more when you don't HAVE to, so bleh. Yeah, when I moved here, I was surprised that Mote and Stallings didn't make us practice, since Mr. Kovalchik made us practice at least four days a week. So I got worse over the year, so I started practicing more... until they decided to score our grades with half of it based on practice time. They don't even teach how to practice. Some people practice wrong, and they don't get any better. If they want us to get better, practice quantity isn't what matters. It's the quality. Oh, and I know how we can prove to Mote that his method of choosing leadership fails: do everything exactly as he says. When he says section leaders are only in charge of music and have nothing to do with marching, we'll do that exactly the way we interpret it. Section leaders only work on passing off the marching music, then it's all musical stuff: sight reading, tuning exercises, etc. And since the trumpet doesn't have any marching leaders, none of our sectionals will ever have anything to do with marching. And on the field, since sections are usually together all the time so we can hear each other, other unit captains are going to be running around everywhere trying to fix the sets. By the end of the year, if Mote doesn't retire, hopefully he'll realize his way fails miserably, and we need to have unit captains and section leaders for every section. The point of UNIT captains is that they have a unit to be the captain of. In other words, a section.

I just don't understand why he made this year special and change the way he does marching band. My freshmen year everything was perfect the way he did it. I rather have the trumpets not fail miserably than prove that Mote's ideas are fail.

Ah. Yeah, especially since this is your senior year. Well, we'll have to find some other way that won't take an entire year to prove it. Of course, my idea would make the trumpet section the best section for the entire year since we'd be the best musically. I guess we could defy Mote and make our own unit captains like we did last year when you were the trumpets' honorary section leader. You could be our unit captain for the year. We could probably do musical sectionals every other week and marching sectionals every other week. And Josh wants to have biweekly full brass sectionals, so we could extend those sectionals a little so we can work on both marching and music. Do music for about an hour and a half, or until Mote leaves (whichever comes first), then do marching for an hour and a half.

Well, if you explained all this to him, he might consider it.
Did Mote pick the leadership, or did Stallings?

They both did.
3 hours of marching band after school sounds a little bad. An hour and a half is long enough. I really wouldn't mind doing all 3 hours, it's just you have to remember that people have homework, and then you got people like Chandler and Ryan that don't want to be there.
Michael, I think Mote will just consider us unofficial squad leaders, and I'm not going to worry about it. With the type of authority and intimidation Mote has, it's best to just go with the flow and not to ask questions.

Yeah, three hours, hour and a half, two hours, something like that. lol Intimidation? Mote is not intimidating, unless I haven't seen that side of him. Stallings is a little more intimidating, but Mr. Kovalchik is probably the most intimidating band director I've ever had. But he knew how to make a good joke to lighten up the mood so we didn't hate him. Only people like Chandler and Ryan hated him... wait, that's basically the entire band here, but on a lower level with most of the band. lol Justin, if Mr. Kovalchik hated hearing you play Hey Baby as much as Mote does, you wouldn't even think of playing it again in front of him.

I guess you haven't seen the intimidating side. Although, Mote has lightened up A TON, and I mean that. The few years before my freshmen... if he had a paddle...let's just say he would do more than spank you with it.

I'm glad teachers can't spank kids anymore. I wouldn't have a butt if that were allowed, among other things... o.o
