(Oct. 6) - Wall Street suffered through another extraordinary and traumatic session Monday, with the Dow Jones industrials plunging as much as 800 points — their largest one-day point drop — before recovering to close with a loss of 370. The catalyst for the selling, which also took the Dow below 10,000 for the first time in four years, was investors' growing despair that the spreading credit crisis will take a heavy toll around the world.
Investors have come to the realization that the Bush administration's $700 billion rescue plan and steps taken by other governments won't work quickly to unfreeze the credit markets.

for the record, we control the world.
that may not be totally accurate, but we are perhaps the largest exporter and importer of goods on the planet. when/if we stop buying and selling stuff, the whole planet would feel it.
so if we go down............ well, so does everyone else.
except maybe china. or given a few decades Russia

China would go down because we buy everything they make and Russia would go down because we sell them wheat. Not to mention the tremendous foreign investments in America.
Derrick, we're the biggest importer in the world. China is the biggest exporter. We have a service-based economy. China has an industrial economy. We're the information center of the world. China is the sweat shop center of the world. Stripped down comparison: we're now co-dependent economies, whether we like it or not. Outsourcing did that.

Yeah, we can't escape China until corporations take a hit and stop outsourcing labor so America can have an industry again. Since that's not happening, get ready for some NEW JOBS THAT NEVER EXISTED BEFORE.
